Questions about Tattoo Studio
What this free tool does, what it makes and how the files go into FiveM.
A custom tattoo needs its texture in a .ytd, an overlays XML mounted with data_file 'PED_OVERLAY_FILE', and a shop_tattoo.meta mounted with 'TATTOO_SHOP_DLC_FILE' so tattoo shops can list it. Tattoo Studio places the artwork on the body and exports the PNG textures, the overlays XML and shop_tattoo.meta; add the textures to a .ytd with CodeWalker or OpenIV.
Tattoos are placed by the ped's UV map, not by the 3D body, so a design positioned on a flat template often lands off. Tattoo Studio uses the real component UV maps of the male and female freemode body, per body area, and writes the position and scale into the overlays XML so the game draws it where you put it.
Yes. The male and female freemode bodies have different UV layouts, so each tattoo needs its own placement on each, and the export names them _M and _F. In Tattoo Studio you switch between the two bodies, and every body area keeps its own artwork, so switching never loses work.
Everything runs in your browser. Files you open stay on your computer; exports are downloads. Workspace, Conflict Check and GTA Library need direct disk access and aren't available on the web.
