Before you install
- Colour-shift paints need game build 2612 or newer (
sv_enforceGameBuild). - Add the .dds ramps to your vehicle_paint_ramps.ytd with a YTD editor — only one can be active, so keep its existing ramps.
- Paint numbers follow load order. Test with /chameleontest.
- The preview is approximate — always check in game.
Everything runs in your browser. Your models never leave your computer.
Questions about Chameleon Paint
What this free tool does, what it makes and how the files go into FiveM.
Each colour-shift paint is an entry in carcols_gen9.meta whose ramp texture sits in vehicle_paint_ramps.ytd, and carmodcols_gen9.meta lists it in the paint menu. Chameleon Paint lets you pick two to four colours, preview the shift on a car as the angle changes and download a ready resource with the metas and ramp textures.
The game uses only one vehicle_paint_ramps.ytd, so two resources streaming their own copies hide each other's ramps. Give Chameleon Paint the vehicle_paint_ramps.ytd your server already streams and it adds the new ramps to it, keeping the others, so a single copy carries every paint.
Yes. The two/three-tone mode paints tones onto the car's livery UV map, a whole panel at a time, with gloss, metallic, matte, pearl or colour-shift finishes, on your own car or a GXD shell. It exports a livery texture, so it shows in game on cars whose model has a livery slot.
